March 2026 – Indian Restaurant & Kava Lounge & The Church Pub
And Now For Something Completely Different
In another brave step into the unknown, March 2026 visitation took place at a Kava bar masquerading as an Indian Restaurant, or vice versa, I’m still not sure. As curry experts we know that the Indian/Sub-Continent/Asia/Pacific fusion market is rapidly expanding and so a visit was in order to provide the RCCC stamp/sticker of approval. To summon up the courage needed to make this giant leap for mankind, a couple swift pints at the Church Pub were required which a thirsty dozen soon got busy with. There was also a spicy South Africa treat passed around at the pub that really got the thirst up – and I don’t mean the Raj!
Once we had absorbed the uniqueness of lush Fijian sunset/rainbow/waterfall AI wall art and given the obligatory Kava bowl the once over, attention shifted to the main event of curry munching. The staff were very attentive and bloody awesome and achieved a thoroughly well-deserved 4.8/5 for service on the curry survey. Memory doesn’t serve if the Maharajah partook in the mandated birthday vindaloo, I suspect he reached some sort of “arrangement” with the staff to hoodwink the RCCC members. If the Jalfrezi was anything to go by, the spicing could have been turned up a notch or two, but the flavours were excellent. Other comments included the bhaji being a bit dry and gravy a bit thin on one of the dishes but overall the curry scored very well with 4.7/5
There was much merriment at SC (allegedly) wetting himself and lot of other shenanigans were had on a thoroughly enjoyable night out. A couple unsatiated member slunk off to the Paddy McNaughton’s Irish Pub next door to finish off the visitation in the appropriate manner, not before MH took the CoTM trophy home for sins against the Raj.
The voyage into the unknown was well worth it.
